3 Simple Tips To Help Improve Your Resume

A resume shouldn’t just list what you’ve done, but it should make a hiring manager believe they would be missing out if they didn't interview you. You want your resume to show your value immediately, from the beginning of your resume until the very end. Your goal is not only to inform but to trigger a call to action to get that interview. Here are 3 simple tips to help improve your resume.

Create a summary paragraph at the top of your resume that not only shows that you have the exact job experience and skills but also shows your greatest achievements and something valuable that the company would be looking for in a future employee. Something that would make a hiring manager excited and eager to know more about you and what you could help them achieve.

Example - Customer service representative experienced in managing high volume calls while resolving 100% of customer issues on first contact. Helped company achieve #1 customer satisfaction rating by consistently achieving 5/5 satisfaction survey scores. Skilled at identifying customer needs with speed and accuracy to deliver consistent service while maintaining empathy and professionalism.

Tip #2

Show industry relevant and impactful accomplishments so the hiring manager can see how you could easily fit into the role and meet company expectations. Also, show your progression and growth.

Example - Promoted to team lead after achieving high customer de-escalation results and coaching team members on how to easily manage escalations, helping improve customer resolution rates.

Tip #3

Show initiative and that you can solve company problems, excel in challenging situations, and achieve or exceed goals.

Example - Reduced irate customer situations by identifying root problems and providing solutions that prevented repeat issues, improving customer experience and maintaining customer loyalty.
