Valuable Experience You Can Add To Your Resume

When considering what experience to add to your resume, do you only consider paid or traditional experience? If so, you might be missing out on relevant and valuable experience that you didn't realize you had that you could add to your resume. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to uncover often overlooked work experience.
  • Did I do any volunteer work for organizations, in my community or at my child's school?
  • Did I hold any positions within clubs or organizations where I performed tasks such as coordinating events, organizing fundraisers or helping increase membership?
  • Did I help family members, neighbors, friends or strangers with tasks, such as babysitting, caregiving, tutoring or driving to appointments?
All of these experiences can be added to your resume to show relevant skills and help with employment gaps. Sometimes tasks that seem unimportant can help strengthen your resume and help align it more to the job description. So, if you think you have no experience or too little experience, think back on what you've done in your life, because you might find things you didn't realize that you could add to your resume.
